How to Put Yourself Into Any Video With AI, Using Your Own Clip (2026)

Not every trend has a template. Here is how to recast your own 4 to 30 second clip with your photo, your friends or your pet: which clips work, which photos to use, what it costs and what to avoid.

Oct 28, 2026

Short answer: on SlapClip, tap Use my own clip in the generator, upload any 4 to 30 second MP4 or MOV, add one clear photo per person, pet or product you want in it (up to 10), and tap Generate. In 3 to 8 minutes you get the same clip, with the same moves, camera and timing, starring your people. It works for trends that do not have a page yet, for your own dance or skit, and for any clip you have the right to use. Details below were checked on October 28, 2026.

When to Use Your Own Clip

SlapClip has a ready made page for many trends, such as Tiny Desk, Dime Dime Baby and Tiramisu in the Fridge, where the clip is already loaded. Use your own clip when:

  • A trend is too new to have a page. Trends move fast. If you saw it on TikTok this morning, you can make it now.
  • You want a specific version. Maybe one remake of a trend has the scene, the angle or the timing you love.
  • It is your own video. Your dance, your skit, your product demo, and you want someone else (or your dog) in it.
  • It is a group video. A clip with several people, where you want to swap in several friends at once.

Step by Step

  1. Open the generator. On the homepage or any trend page, look under the video for Use my own clip.
  2. Upload your clip. Any MP4 or MOV from 4 to 30 seconds. Longer clips need to be trimmed first; your phone's photo app can do that.
  3. Add your photos. One clear photo per person, pet or product, up to 10. Photos on your phone while you are on a computer? Use Photos on your phone? Scan to upload.
  4. Say who goes where (if needed). If the clip has more than one person, switch on Prompt and write who replaces whom: "replace the person on the left with @image1 and the person on the right with @image2".
  5. Check the price and generate. The button shows the total before anything is charged. The MP4 is ready 3 to 8 minutes later.

Which Clips Work Best

The model follows the clip's movement, camera and timing, so clean source clips give clean results.

  • No text on screen. Captions, stickers, app watermarks and @handles in the source clip can end up in your video. Pick a clean version, or trim off the part with text.
  • One continuous shot is easiest. Clips with many cuts work, but each cut is a new scene to match.
  • People clearly visible. If the person you want to replace is tiny in the frame or mostly hidden, the result will be weaker.
  • Vertical for TikTok and Reels. The output keeps the clip's shape, so a 9:16 clip gives you a 9:16 video.
  • Sound comes along. The clip's own audio stays in the result.

Which Photos Work Best

  • One subject per photo, facing the camera, face sharp and well lit.
  • Match the shot: full body photos for full body clips, a face photo is fine for close ups.
  • The outfit you want to see: the clothes in the photo are the clothes in the video.
  • Products work too: a clear photo of a bottle, a shoe or a car on a plain background.
  • Not allowed: photos of children, or of adults who did not agree.

What It Costs

You pay per second of the clip you upload: 0.5 credits per second at 480p, 1 credit per second at 720p (the default) and 3 credits per second at 1080p. Clips under 4 seconds are billed as 4. A 10 second clip at 720p costs 10 credits; a 30 second clip at 720p costs 30. Credits come in one time packs: 15 credits for $9.99, 45 for $24.99 and 100 for $49.99, with no subscription. Failed renders are refunded automatically.

Tip to save credits: trim the clip to the part that matters. Most trends land in 8 to 15 seconds, and every second you cut is a credit saved at 720p.

Own Clip vs a Trend Page

| | Trend page | Your own clip | | ----------- | ----------------------------- | -------------------------------- | | Clip | Loaded for you, plus examples | Any 4 to 30 second MP4 or MOV | | Photo slots | Labelled for the trend | Up to 10, you say who goes where | | Best for | Popular trends, fast | New trends, your own videos | | Price | Shown on the button | Shown on the button |

If a trend already has a page, start there: the clip is clean, the slots are labelled and the examples show what works. Browse them all on the trends page.

What to Avoid

  • Clips you are not allowed to use. Use your own videos, or clips you have the right to remix for personal fun.
  • Making it look like a real person said or did something. Keep it obviously a meme.
  • Posting without a label. TikTok and Instagram both ask creators to label AI generated videos.
